Also known as Fastuca Fest, the Pistachio Festival takes place the 3th weekend of September, with the purpose to promote the delicious green fruit, precisely defined in dialect “Fastuca”.
The cultivation of pistachio was introduced in Sicily by the Arabs. Raffadali’s pistachio in particular, is a highly prized product with an intense flavour, which is used for the production of many types of food, from desserts, such as cakes, creams and ice-creams, to first courses, such as pasta made from pistachio flour, to main courses, where ‘Fastuca’ is used to make Pistachio Sausage.
This festival is also a showcase for producers and processors of the green gold: indeed there are cooking shows for tasting the product, but also conventions and laboratories to tell its plantations and features to tourists.
